Hapag-Lloyd deploys a modern fleet of more than 130 containerships within the scope of different alliances, this includes a number of charter vessels.
In order to participate in the expected market growth, and to provide customers with the necessary capacity, Hapag-Lloyd will be introducing fourteen ships of the “Colombo Express” class into the fleet by 2011. These container ships equipped with state-of-the-art technology are, with a slot capacity up to 8,750 TEU, among the largest units in the world.
Hapag-Lloyd vessels are specially equipped for the transport of various goods, e.g. cargo with extraordinary/ oversized dimensions, reefer cargo and Dangerous Goods that have to be stowed and transported according to IMO-regulations.
All Hapag-Lloyd vessels are certified according to ISM (International Safety Management) and hold a valid ISSC (ISPS) certificate. Most vessels are certified according to ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).
